Position overview

Lead the Downstream Functional Design

We are seeking an experienced SAP Ariba Functional Lead to own the design and configuration of downstream Procure-to-Pay solutions. This role leads requirements definition, buying channel and catalog strategy, approval design, and invoice and payment process configuration.

The Functional Lead owns what the system does and why. You will be accountable for a design that end users actually adopt, working alongside a Technical Lead who owns integration and build mechanics.

What you will own

Key Responsibilities

Lead functional design, configuration, and adoption across the complete downstream SAP Ariba landscape.

Procurement and Guided Buying

Design and configure Guided Buying landing pages, tiles, and user journeys.
Configure buying policies, catalogs, and buying channels aligned to client spend policy.
Define the requisitioner experience with adoption as the primary design constraint.

Catalog Management

Configure CIF catalogs, PunchOut, PunchOut Level 2, and catalog kits.
Define pricing, unit of measure, and catalog content governance standards.
Own catalog-side supplier enablement design and content refresh cadence.

Requisitioning and Purchase Order Processing

Design approval workflows, purchasing rules, and account assignment logic.
Configure receiving, order confirmation, and change order processes.
Define non-catalog and services procurement handling.

Invoicing and Payment

Configure Invoice Management, including PO, non-PO, and contract invoicing.
Design tax determination, reconciliation, and exception handling processes.
Define payment process requirements and payment status visibility for accounts payable.

Approval and Workflow Design

Build approval rules and spend authorization structures that reflect client delegation of authority.
Configure validation and business rules.
Design notification strategy so that approvals move without manual chasing.

ERP Integration

Lead functional design for SAP ECC and S/4HANA Procure-to-Pay integration using SAP CIG.
Define master data integration requirements across materials, suppliers, cost centers, and general ledger.
Define transactional flow requirements across requisition, purchase order, invoice, and payment.

Supplier Enablement and Business Network

Manage SAP Business Network supplier onboarding waves and enablement strategy.
Configure transaction rules and document routing.
Lead functional testing, user acceptance testing, cutover, and hypercare, then transition to Application Managed Services.

What you bring

Experience That Fits the Role

Required Skills and Qualifications

Five or more years of hands-on SAP Ariba functional configuration experience, with at least two full lifecycle downstream implementations.
Demonstrated depth in Buying and Invoicing, Guided Buying, catalog management, and approval workflow design.
Working knowledge of accounts payable process design, including invoice exception handling and tax treatment.
Experience with SAP Business Network supplier enablement, including onboarding wave planning.
Working understanding of SAP ECC or S/4HANA procurement and finance master data and how it constrains Ariba design.
Proven ability to lead fit-to-standard workshops with procurement, accounts payable, and IT stakeholders.
Ability to produce functional specifications, test scripts, and configuration workbooks to a client-ready standard.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to defend design decisions to director and executive audiences.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
