A corporation’s Code of Conduct is a formal, written policy of what behaviors are acceptable and unacceptable. It demonstrates to all stakeholders in the supply chain, both internal and external, the importance of and ethical intentions of the organization to all internal and external stakeholders. Many firms elect to publish their codes of conduct on their websites so that consumers can be aware of their ethical policies and social responsibilities toward the environment, community, and workplace.
There are many sources for examples of codes of conduct for organizations endeavoring to develop the document. Some of these include the International Labor Organization (ILO), the UN Global Compact, and CSR Europe.
