Action – Overview

The final phase of the PDCA process is the implementation of the successful solution, which is referred to as the “Action” step. If a pilot was conducted, or subsequent negotiation sessions were held after the initial one, then the “Do” and “Check” steps will be carried out further.

Considerations in this “Action” phase include:

Has an agreement been reached?

1. If the answer is yes, proceed to execute the agreement for deployment and ensure compliance.

2. If the answer is no, then it’s best to end the negotiations but maintain a positive relationship in case there are opportunities for future negotiations.

Document lessons learned

Throughout the negotiation process, it would have been beneficial to utilize documentation for guidance and contract management. Additionally, documentation provides the opportunity for ongoing improvement by utilizing lessons learned in future negotiations with the same supplier or similar circumstances.
